Obituary

Bob Hamilton was born November 5, 1947, in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Sunset High School and later earned his degree from East Texas State University.

He dedicated twenty-four years of his career to the City of Dallas before retiring and devoting more of his time to the people and activities he loved most. He cherished time with his family, fishing, taking trips to Galveston, and could often be found working in his garage on one of his many hobbies.

His father, William, introduced him to the sport of racing when, at 10 years old, he was gifted with a small 'quarter midget' race car. This passion would build and culminate in the 1980's when he took to dirt track racing and then concluded with a trip around a NASCAR track traveling over 100mph! This passion would never leave him and brought him great joy on many weekend afternoons of televised race watching.

His garage shop was home to many activities such as illustrative drafting, model building, handyman repairs and lately, ham radio operation. He always said that it was important to focus on the details, learn the craft and soak up the experience. His output in that shop reflected these modes of thinking.

Above all, Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a wonderful example of what it means to be a family man – someone who worked hard, loved deeply, and took great pride in providing for and spending time with his family. His kindness, dedication, and love will be remembered and cherished.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy Hamilton; his son, Robert Hamilton and his wife, Angela; his son Brad Hamilton; and his two granddaughters, Morgan and Reagan Hamilton.

His family will forever treasure the memories they made with him. Most of all, they will miss the biggest bear hugs anyone could ever give. We love you Papa.
