Obituary

Louis Merle Rodencal Born in North East, PA, Erie County on September 7 1935, to the late Louis William and Agnes Elizabeth Lexow Rodencal. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran church in North East, PA. Louis Merle attended Jones Mills Country School for 4 years, then went to Heard Memorial and graduated from North East High School in 1952. He then continued on to Barber College and graduated in 1953. He opened his own barber shop in North Warren, PA in 1957 which he ran until 1972. He managed a bowling alley until 1976 when he moved to Denver, Colorado; and for the next 20 years worked in ground maintenance at the Lakewood Country Club and the Denver Country Club golf courses. He retired after losing his leg in a car accident in 1996. Louis married Linda Rockwell on August 20, 1960 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, North East, PA. He married Eileen Bottolfson on August 4, 2001 at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Colorado. Louis and Eileen moved to the Dallas area in 2004. Louis loved the outdoors and volunteered at his church in Richardson, becoming one of St. Lukes yardbirds. He liked to golf and bowl, but his greatest joy was the water and sailing as a member of Corinthian Sailing Club, White Rock Lake, Texas. He grew up on Lake Erie, and it was his playground. He was able to sail many lakes and rivers, most notably, the Tom Bigby River, the Oakland Estuary, San Diego Bay, the Hudson River, Pensacola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Kelly Loy Rodencal and sister-in-law Elizabeth Rodencal. He is survived by his brothers, Edward and John (Jeanette), his wife Eileen Bottolfson, his son Todd, his daughter Kristy Goettl (Jeff) and granddaughter, Jillian Kyzer. He is also survived by his step-daughters Karen Northcutt (Jim), Karla Bottolfson (Kevin Miller), Brenda Thomas (Ed), and step-son Tim Bottolfson (Stacey) as well as step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at St. Lukes Lutheran Church 1210 W. Belt Line Road, Richardson, Texas 75080 Memorials may be made to St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Richardson, Texas or St. Pauls Lutheran Church, North East, Pennsylvania.
