Obituary

Richard N. Roloff, 91, of Rochester, NY, died peacefully June 1, 2014 in Plano, TX. He was born to the late Frederick and Edith Roloff, May 3, 1923, in Plattsburgh, NY. Survived by his children Paul Roloff and Claire (Ronald) Moore; grandchildren Ronnie, Emily, Richard & Michael; great-grandsons; Haydenn, Eilam, Jonas, Tesher, August, and Corwin Moore and great-granddaughter; Brecklyn Curtin. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years; Thelma (Burger) Roloff of Greece, NY. Dick received his undergraduate degree at the University of Brockport and his Masters of Art Degree in History at Lehigh University following his discharge from the Army. He was a WW II Veteran, served in Europe from 1943- 1946 for the 197th General Hospital as a Surgical Technician, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was an avid musician playing both the drums and marimba and enjoyed performing as a bandsman with Army dance bands as a drummer. Dick spent most of his career as a Monroe County Senior Probation Officer to troubled youth. He continued to perform with various bands throughout his career. He and Thelma enjoyed a long retirement and moved to Plano in 2010 to be near their daughter. Graveside services in TX will be at 2:00 P.M., on June 18, 2014 at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX. There will be an additional service at Parma Union Cemetery in Greece, NY at a later date through Burger Funeral Home. Those wishing may contribute to the Tri County Veterans Association of Texas or the American Legion in Rochester, NY.
