Rosa Lee Wakefield passed away April 22, 2023 in Plano, Texas. She was born August 15, 1949 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma to ranchers Jack B and Awilda Chivers. She graduated with a BS in Microbiology from OSU and married John Wakefield in May 1971. She worked for the city of Houston health dept and in NJ for Hoffman LaRoche's serology lab. Her autoimmune system impairment (Lupus then RA) diagnosed in mid-80's ended her working career. She is survived by sisters and husbands, Arie and Mike Overby of NM and Mary Lee and Terry Orndorff of Arizona, as well as husband John of Plano, TX. A memorial will be held at Prestoncrest Church of Christ (in Fellowship Hall), 6022 Preston Crest Lane, Dallas, TX 75230 at 11:00am, on July 21, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cherokee Home for Children in Cherokee, P.O. Box 295 Cherokee, TX 76832 and the Texas and Autoimmune Association, 19176 Hall Rd., Suite 130, Clinton Township, MI 48038 are two causes aligned with her life experiences for anyone wishing to contribute to in her memory.
