Obituary

Rose Marie Adwell, age 73, passed away on September 22, 2025, in Garland, Texas.

Rose was born on May 21, 1952, in Radisson, Saskatchewan, Canada. She raised her daughter in Saskatoon where she worked in office administration before going back to school and becoming a registered nurse in 1982. Rose worked at the University Hospital until she took an opportunity to practice nursing in Texas, abandoning cold winters for a place where she could garden most of the year.

Rose loved to garden, and her home was a showpiece of beautiful flowers and trees. She learned that the Texas heat was a challenge for the vegetables she loved to grow in Canada, but that didn't stop her, and she loved spending hours tending to her yard.

In Texas, she met the love of her life, Dwight Adwell, her husband for the past 31 years. Rose loved to do puzzles and play Sequence with friends Ken and Nancy. But almost always it was the girls that would win. Rose was a very loving and supporting wife. Rose became a US Citizen in 2021, and she loved her country so much.

Dwight always said, "Rose was my "density" sent from God", and the beautiful typo stuck as their special love note. Dwight and Rose were always kidding around. Dwight will always remember how he would ruffle her hair or suggest something silly and Rose would respond a with a sharp No (or other choice words) and laugh in her beautiful Canadian accent we loved so much. Rose was always the life of the party. Rose's friends will always remember her dressing for Halloween as "Baba Rose" and other characters she would invent.

Rose was a great cook. Being of Ukrainian descent, she would make many traditional meals that Dwight loved, but Dwight still has no urge to eat borscht. Rose and Dwight loved to go to WinStar and play the slot machines and Rose loved to do her scratchy tickets on Saturday mornings. In the last number of years, Saturdays meant quiet breakfast time and Sunday was always doughnut and coffee time with Dwight.

Rose leaves behind her devoted husband Dwight, her daughter Tracey Wright, son-in-law Byron, and two grandchildren Samantha and Michelle. She is also survived by her sister Gloria Robertson, and brother John Secora.

Rose reunites in eternity with her parents (John and Mary Secora), sisters Gertie Browne, Marilyn Evans, and Vicki Zavadiuk.

The family has held a private memorial and cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider sharing a memory, or planting a special flower or tree in your own garden as a remembrance.
