Rue Ann
Adamson
Jan 21, 1947 — Nov 5, 2022
Rue Ann Adamson, 75, of Grand Prairie, TX, entered Heaven's Gates November 5, 2022, surrounded by a room full of people who loved her as much as she loved them. Rue Ann's vibrantly beautiful heart was bigger than Texas and she used that heart to love BIG…sharing all of herself generously with her family, friends, and colleagues throughout her colorful and adventurous life.
Born January 21, 1947, in the Texas Rio Grande Valley, to Justus and Janice Haley, she was baby sister Rue-Rue to her big bubbas, Dean & "Rakie", who spoiled her rotten and protected her up until she drew her last breath.
Rue Ann's passions in life were her family, friends, animals, food & wine, art, and travel. After graduating from Edinburg North High School and University of Oklahoma, she began her career in travel as a flight attendant, then moved on to roles with vacation tour operators, hotels, and travel agencies. Rue Ann spent the better part of five decades in the travel industry where she developed, nurtured, and amassed a cadre of lifelong, loyal friends she was blessed to travel and "do life" with. She made a significant impact in this space and was as well-known and beloved to her business family as she was to her biological family.
Ever true to her Texas roots and strong "Haley-woman" DNA, Rue Ann was the epitome of a "Steel Magnolia", a term used to define southern women who exemplify both traditional femininity and an uncommon fortitude. Like the magnolia flower, she was both delicate and beautiful, yet tough enough to persevere through challenging seasons of life. Just as she joyfully lived life out loud, embracing all the blessings the Lord showered upon her, and drinking fully from life's cup, she also fearlessly faced adversity head-on with grace, poise, and dignity…. including in her battle with cancer this year. Our precious angel Rue Ann wanted to stay here with us so badly, she gracefully and fiercely fought, with that uncommon fortitude, right up until her Heavenly Father called her home. And we understand why He wanted His angel back. While our human hearts are shattered, our spirits rejoice, as we know Rue Ann's last travel adventure was to the best destination of them all.
Rue Ann is survived by her brother Dean Haley and his wife, Diana Haley, brother Ray Haley and sister-in-law Barbara Haley Dingman, stepson Bradley Adamson, nieces and nephews Lelan Haley, Rhonda Haley, Sharon Haley Purcell, and Travis Haley, and close family friends, Rachel Jessen, and Sean Jessen.Memorial services for Rue Ann will be held at a later date determined by the family. Please leave family condolences and share memories here on this website.
