Obituary

Edward John Ruffalo, beloved husband and father of Plano, Texas, left us to go to Heaven early Thursday, April 23, 2015, after a very long illness. His adoring wife, Marguerite, daughter Patrice and sons Michael and Eric were by his side. He leaves behind his wife Marguerite, daughter and son-in-law, Patrice and Dale Hicks, son Christopher and his wife Keri, sons Michael and Eric and grandsons Michael Horvath and Kash Ruffalo. Born at home July 1, 1928 in Tuckahoe, New York, during the Great Depression, Edward very proudly served his country and was an Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Prior to going to active duty in WWII, he patrolled an area of Yonkers, New York each night as a Blackout Warden, ensuring compliance from families and businesses, which was seen as a patriotic duty to prevent potential attacks. He also served in the National Guard and was a Police Officer for the City of Yonkers, New York for 11 years from 1953 to 1964. He proudly drove the Yonkers Police Commissioner for several years, was in the Motorcycle Unit and accompanied President Kennedy's Motorcade as it passed through Yonkers in 1960. Edward's first love was his family. He also loved animals, and through the years, rescued and brought home many cats and dogs that found a wonderful home - a trait he passed on to his children. He leaves behind beloved family pets and will join many cherished pets in Heaven. Edward loved people and everywhere he went, he had a smile and greeting for all. His favorite saying was, "Every day is a gift", and, as a member of the Greatest Generation, he lived each day fully. Edward will forever be in our hearts….will be forever missed.forever loved.and will never be forgotten. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00am in the Chapel at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5100 West Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas, 75093 (972) 380-2100.
