Sandra Findlay, 84, of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 25 th , 2022. Sandra "Sandy" was born June 21 st , 1938 in Wilmington, North Carolina. She graduated from Grant Community High School in Fox Lake, Illinois in 1956. Soon after, she married her high school sweetheart, Don Findlay, with whom she spent the majority of her life living in Illinois until moving to Frisco Lakes retirement community in Frisco, Texas in 2012. A longtime member of the United Protestant Church of Grayslake, Illinois, Sandy enjoyed many activities, including playing in a handbell group and attending women's fellowship circle. After moving to Texas, she continued her church fellowship as a member of First Frisco United Methodist Church.
Sandy was known to her family and friends as a kind, loving soul who brought joy to everyone she knew. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, playing bunco, crafting, playing the piano, traveling, and spoiling her beloved dog, Baxter.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Emily (Baker) Sworthout, brother Sidney Sworthout, sister Dorothy Henderson, and husband, Don, of 58 years. She is survived by brothers Gordon and Alan Sworthout, son Mike (Donna) Findlay, daughter Sue (Mike) Dormann, son Rob (Christy) Findlay, grandchildren Jackie (Jake) McElhoe, Jaymee (Miles) Froese, Kyle (Nicole) Sauerwein, Brett (Kaleigh) Sauerwein, Rachel (Josh) Wilson, Nathan Dormann, Steven Dormann, Tyler (Kelci) Davis, Kyle Gieseke, Alexandra (Blake) Covington, Lauren (Taylor) Miranda, and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Arden Courts of Richardson for the loving, compassionate care Sandra received while she was a resident there. Thank you, as well, to all who gave her love and friendship throughout her life. Sandy treasured you all.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 14 th , 2023 at First Frisco United Methodist Church, 7659 Preston Rd. Frisco, TX 75034. A private graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.
