Obituary

On Tuesday, July 22, 2020, Eugene Edward Santucci, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at age 81 from complications from Alzheimer's Dementia. Gene was born on November 16, 1938 to Ettore Santucci and Carmel Santucci (Trieste) in Rochester, New York. On June 9, 1962, he married Angela LoCastro, also of Rochester after they met at a family wedding. They adopted two daughters, Dsire and Melissa. He had a strong work ethic, and despite lacking a college degree, made his way in the corporate world, eventually becoming a Vice President; a title he held at multiple corporations. He never neglected his family though, even when his job forced him to travel. He always made time for his children, coaching their soccer teams, helping run scout meetings and taking them to movies or out for ice cream. Early in life, Gene discovered bowling. He could frequently be found at the lanes and often competed in semi-pro tournaments. He played in casual leagues and brought his eldest daughter along, often letting her be the team score keeper. He enjoyed country music, or what he would call "real country" from artists like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Bobby Bare. He loved doing crossword puzzles and rarely was without a well-worn crossword puzzle dictionary near his chair. He was proud of his Italian heritage. Gene had a special love for his grandchildren, he would sit on the couch sharing peaches and oranges with them as he discussed whatever sports were on TV, making jokes about it the whole time. He loved taking them to the mall just so he could put put them on the carousel and then take them to the Disney Store to spoil them. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and no matter the mood he was in they would always put a smile on his face. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Angela Santucci and is survived by his daughter, Dsire Greverud, her wife, Therese Greverud and their two daughters, Taryn and Kayleigh of Stockholm, Sweden; daughter, Melissa Williams, her husband, Doug Williams and her two daughters, McKenna and Addisyn of McKinney, Texas.
