Peggy Joyce Alford Schuster passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017 in Plano, Texas after a brief illness and fall, at the age of 81 years. She was born August 27, 1935, in Pickton, Hopkins County, Texas. She grew up in Dallas, McKinney, and Garland. She married Walter Schuster on February 16, 1963, and lived in Richardson, TX, thereafter. Peggy is survived by daughter Rosemary Hughes and her husband Joe, daughter Sarah Whitfield and her husband David, daughter Susan Cluiss and her husband Paul, daughter Sandra Wiltshire and her husband Robert, and grandchildren Dillon Hughes, Hannah Hughes, Grace Whitfield, Tom Whitfield, Martha Whitfield, Caroline Cluiss, Jonathan Cluiss, and Aaron Cluiss, brothers Grady Alford and Bobby Alford, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by parents George Dowl and Mary Christa Belle Alford, her husband Walter Schuster, and her brother Al Alford. As a young adult, Peggy worked as a secretary and a ballroom dance instructor on the side. She then happily married Walter, made her home, and raised her babies. She volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout leader, a school PTA board member, and a Collins Wives Club officer. Her greatest avocation was her genealogy work: she loved to research, travel, document, and visit with every branch of the family. She was an active member of Alford American Family Association (AAFA). She was a loving grandma always ready with a popsicle. Visitation and celebration of her life will be held at her home on Monday, July 3, 6:00-8:00 p.m. A graveside service with her cremated remains will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch, TX.
