Obituary

Mary Jane Shaver, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Arthur Douglas Shaver, and brothers Doug and Bruce Hammond. She leaves behind daughters Judy Meredith and Betsy Musick, spouses Keener Meredith and Larry Musick, and grandchildren Haley, Abigail & Henry Meredith, Anne Musick Pettit, married to Josiah, and David & Frank Musick. Born to George and "Rae" Hammond, Mary Jane's roots in Boston, MA included Garland Junior College and a backpacking trip to Europe. She married Art, a Harvard grad Canadian, had two girls, and left her beloved New England to live briefly in Wichita, KS, and then settle in Kansas City, where she was an avid tennis player and St. Luke's Hospital volunteer at their "Nearly New" thrift store. An interior decorator by trade, she loved "line, design, and color," coordinating everything from outfits, with matching visors, to curtains and slipcovers made by hand. After ten years in Sarasota, FL, they joined Dallas family, with their final move to Canyon Creek. Lap swimming, attending the gym, and dancing to Benny Goodman cd's, she was active and full of life well into her eighty's. Mary Jane enjoyed Believer's Chapel many years and made a profession of faith shortly before she died. Donations may be made to the City Union Mission in Kansas City. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Douglas Shaver. She leaves behind daughters Judy Meredith (Keener) and Betsy Musick (Larry); grandchildren Haley, Abigail & Henry Meredith, Anne Musick Pettit (Josiah), and David & Frank Musick. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10:30 am at Believers Chapel 6420 Churchill Way, Dallas, TX with a reception following.
