Sep 16, 1947 — Apr 11, 2026
Sherry Lynn Brundrett Chilcote, a longtime resident of Richardson, Texas, passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on September 16, 1947, Sherry grew up in Rockport, Texas, where she was a proud member of the Rockport Fulton High School Class of 1965. Her childhood on the coast shaped her love of community, family, and the simple joys of life.
Sherry had a deep love for music and a naturally beautiful singing voice. In her early adulthood, she performed with several local bands, sharing her talent at community events, dances, and small venues across the region. Music brought her joy, connection, and lifelong friendships.
Those years were also filled with family adventures, including memorable camping trips to Lake Texoma that became treasured stories passed down through generations.
Sherry's later years were defined by the work that became her greatest passion: dog rescue. She dedicated countless hours to saving the lives of hundreds of dogs, ensuring they found safety, care, and loving forever homes. Her tireless service through Big Dog Rescue left an enduring impact on the rescue community and on every animal, she helped shepherd into a better life. Her compassion, determination, and unwavering advocacy for those without a voice became the hallmark of her legacy.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Jon Chilcote; her children, Dianna Roberts and her husband Jeff, Tanya Hagar and her husband Doug, and Benjamin Wolfe; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Brundrett, and his wife, Marsha, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Sue and Jerald Brundrett of Rockport. Sherry's family, and the many animals whose lives she touched, carry forward the love and kindness she shared so freely.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal memorial service.
Sherry's family encourages those who wish to honor her memory to continue the work she held closest to her heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Dog Rescue.
