Sherry Ann Willis passed away unexpectedly at her apartment in Crowley, Texas, on July 15, 2026, at the age of 74.

She was born on October 5, 1951, in Lubbock, Texas, to William Alton (W.A.) Willis and Ruby Dean Shields Willis. She spent much of her childhood in Levelland, Texas. In 1961, after her father retired from the U.S. Air Force, the family moved first to Odessa, Texas, and later to Abilene, Texas.

Sherry was known for her generous and caring heart from an early age. While attending Abilene High School, she volunteered as a candy striper and graduated with the Class of 1969. After high school, she attended Texas Tech University before deciding to pursue other interests. With a passion for beauty and cosmetics, she attended cosmetology school for a time before ultimately finding her career with American Airlines as a flight scheduler. She retired after three decades of dedicated service.

Family was at the center of Sherry’s life. She loved researching her family history and could often be found sharing stories and memories of her childhood with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting and was always excited to share her latest creative projects. A devoted Elvis fan, Sherry loved listening to his music and collecting Elvis memorabilia. Above all, she treasured the companionship of her beloved dachshund, Bella, who brought her comfort, love, and faithful companionship in the final years of her life.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, William Alton (W.A.) and Ruby Dean Willis; her sisters, Carolyn Willis Brown and Judy Willis Jordan; and her brother, William A. (Bill) Willis II.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Sweeden of Yakima, Washington; her sister-in-law, Denise Willis-Kuntz (Gary) of Tomball, Texas; her brother-in-law, Julian Burch of Livingston, Texas; her nieces, Julie Shaddox (Chuck) of Bryan, Texas, Rebecca Creighton (Glenn) of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Kris Weixelbaum of Frisco, Texas; her nephews, Joshua Willis of Kansas City, Missouri, and Eddy Cumbie (Chris) of Spring, Texas; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jaxson and Jake Shaddox, Hannah and Elizabeth Creighton, Jett, Olivia, and Rhys Weixelbaum, Drew Cumbie (Annah), Mitchell Cumbie (Jessie), and Allie Cumbie Thurman (Ken).

Sherry will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, her creativity, and the joy she found in sharing stories, crafting, and the music of Elvis Presley.

Sherry will be cremated and buried between her parent’s at Elmwood Cemetery in Abilene, TX. Graveside or other memorial services will be determined at a later date.
