Devoted father and husband, David Paul Shorter, passed away at his home in Dallas on August 23, 2015. David was born February 12, 1942 in Ardmore, Okla. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in March 1959 and served two tours in Vietnam. He came home to Carlsbad N.M. to marry his wife, Jeanne Patterson, between his military service. After his honorable discharge, he lived in New Mexico, worked in the potash industry, and raised his family. They later moved to Ohio to start a restaurant business and retired in Las Cruces, N.M. He is survived by sons Jeff Shorter (Dallas, Texas) and Andrew Shorter (Delaware, Ohio). He was preceded in death by wife, Jeanne Shorter, and his brother John Shorter. At his request cremation has taken place. The family will conduct a private ceremony in Red River, N.M. at a later date. Arrangements are with Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home, 214-340-8008.
