Eldon "Don" L. Slater, 81, died on July 3, 2013 in Mesquite, Texas. He was formerly of Forney, Texas. Don was born on September 6, 1931 in Casey, Iowa to Cyrus and Cecilia Slater. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by Mary Slater, his loving wife of 33 years; his sister, Janie Smith of CA; his 4 children by a previous marriage, son, Gary (Janell) Slater and grandsons, Lucas, Jordan, Nathan & Justin of Desoto, KS; daughter, Brenda Schwartz of Salem, MO and grandchildren, Matthew, Rhonda, Michael & Nicholas; daughter Danette of Seagoville, TX and granddaughter, Tiffany; daughter, Denise Clements of Hueytown, AL and grandchildren, Steven and Christine. Don was also blessed with 16 great grandchildren: Kristopher, Katelyn, Kalee, Ethan, Madison, Mattix, Mason, Kenzie, Kelby, Jaidyn, Elexis, Kalynn, Aunestee, Jeremiah, Aaliyah & Madison.
