Robert Franklin Smithey, Jr., 70, passed away August 8,2013 with his family by his side in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was born September 16, 1942, in Gainesville, TX to Robert Franklin Smithey Sr. and Thelma Smithey. Franklin Smithey Jr. married Betty Wilson, August, 10, 1960. Mr. Smithey served in the United State Army, and was stationed in Germany with his wife, Betty by his side. His interests included fishing, coaching baseball and softball, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. He devoted much of his time and energy spending time with family and making his loved ones laugh. He was the practical jokester of the family. Mr. Smithey is survived by his wife Betty Smithey, 2 sons and 2 daughters; Bernadine Smithey Jones, Penny Smithey Edwards, Neil Smithey and Rex Smithey, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
