Obituary

On July 17th 1948, here in Dallas County, Harry Dane Stalnaker was born to Harry Sr. and mother Billie Ruth. They were German decendents from the wave of German immigrants who came to the new Republic of Texas. Harry passed over on March 2nd, 2015 at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Texas, after only a 3 day stay. He had been ill with pneumonia for a few weeks, there was a mass on his lung, and his oxygen intake was very low. He had rarely missed a day of work and the weeks prior to his passing were no exception. He was 66 years old. Harry had lived in Texas, New York, Florida, Washington State, Oregon and had traveled the US. He was an excellent salesman and this talent had allowed him to travel. He worked mostly in the automotive field. He was a high school graduate. During his younger years in Florida he enjoyed surfing and was quite good at it. While in New York he drove a cab with his life long friend Michael Nash. He started a cab company with his friend Steve as well. They had all worked together in the same building that the show Taxi was filmed in. He was a black belt in Kempo, a Japanese defensive martial art, at a dojo in NYC. Here in TX he worked with Tony Velez for 15 years, through good times and bad, a trustworthy reliable friend. He is already missed by all of us here at Rancho Autos and by his friends in New York who he stayed in contact with. He was beloved. Harry was a very well read, intelligent, witty man(obviously a Democrat). He loved good movies, football, especially the Cowboys, and his beer and Marlboros. Anyone who took the time to visit with him was in for an interesting conversation. He had a surprisingly wide knowledge base. His intense blue eyes and a couple of cocktails had rendered him a ladies man on many occasions.
