Steven Damian Schlueter, 65, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026, after a recent cancer diagnosis. He was surrounded by his devoted fiancé and family at the time of his passing. Steve was born on August 16, 1960, in Lima, Ohio, and was raised in a loving home alongside his four siblings.

Steve carried with him a deep curiosity about the world and a spirit that valued independence and creativity. After graduating from Plano Senior High School in 1978 he pursued higher education at the University of Texas Austin majoring in Electrical Engineering and earned his degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in Physics, a milestone that helped shape his lifelong career.

Professionally, Steve worked in the field of Information Technology early in his working life and finished his career as a Field Service Engineer. He was known for his problem-solving skills and dedication. Beyond his career, he had a natural talent for working with his hands repairing computers, tinkering with cars and electronics, or taking on new projects. He found joy in understanding how things worked and making them better.

Steve was also a lover of music, especially guitars. His appreciation for sound and craftsmanship reflected his personality—thoughtful, expressive, and a bit of a free spirit. He found happiness in the simple moments, often blending his technical skills with his creative passions.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Richard (Dick) Schlueter and his mother Betty Schlueter. He is survived by his fiancé Karin Gatewood, and his siblings Beth Schlueter Webb and her husband Duncan, DJ Schlueter and his wife Deanna, Mike Schlueter and Mark Schlueter, dear family friend Nancy Freeman, and several nieces and nephews.
