Obituary

A dear husband, father, grandfather and friend, Mitchell Albert Strew returned to the embrace of his savior, Jesus Christ on May 27, 2014, peacefully with his family by his side. Mitch was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 22, 1942 to the late Mitchell Strew Sr. and Clara Strew. After graduation at Antioch High School, he worked for Johnson Motors before embarking on his career in Food Service Equipment Manufacturing at Illinois Range Co. (Mt. Prospect, IL) and McDonalds's Corporation (Oak Brook, IL). In 1990 he moved with his family to Richardson, TX where he worked eighteen years at H&K Dallas, until he retired. All through his work career, Mitch took many college classes to enhance his ability to provide the best for his employers. He was most at home in nature and his hobbies ranged from hunting, to canoeing and camping, to sailing, woodworking, gardening, and to photography, just to name a few. Mitch was a passionate man, and he was the consummate perfectionist in every endeavor, whether it was working or playing. He was a lifelong student who loved to learn and to help mentor young men in his field and/or his family about his interests and hobbies. He and his wife, Mary, traveled to many of our National Parks to capture the beauty of God's creation, along with the multitudes of wild life. It delighted him to teach his granddaughters about gardening, dinosaurs, astronomy, history, or anything that might interest them. He enjoyed many a tea party, a visit to the Heard Museum or just playing outside. He was their master photographer; whether taking their portraits, capturing their sweet faces playing, in a fashion show, or when they decorated a little Christmas tree together last Christmas. He was delighted to be a grandfather and his patience and love grew as they impacted his life. Mitch is survived by his wife, Mary, of 47 years, his son, Keith (Amanda) and their children, Clara Grace, Allie and Jakob, his son, Roger (Alison), and their daughter, Charlotte Abigail. He leaves his brother, Ronald Strew, and his sister, Dolores Braun (Gary). His brother, Bob, proceeded him in death. He also leaves many dear nephews and nieces. There will be a Memorial Service for Mitch on Tuesday, June 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Woodcreek Church, 3400 East Renner Road, Richardson, Texas 75082.
