Caroline Cecelia Sommers-Whetsel-Stroope, age 83, of Prosper, Texas passed away peacefully in her home on the night of November 14, 2014. She was attended by her family and loved ones. Caroline was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on February 22, 1931, to the late James L. and Julia K. Sommers. She grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio where she met and married Robert "Bob" Whetsel, also of Chillicothe, Ohio. They moved to Texas shortly after marrying. Robert and Caroline made their home in the Dallas area suburbs. They had two children, Kathie Lynn and David Randall. They had 19 wonderful years together before Bob passed away. Following the passing of Bob Whetsel she met Bobby Joe Stroope through a mutual friend. They married in Richardson, TX. While married to Bobby Joe she learned the various skills needed to work with him in their bee keeping business. They were married for 18 years until his passing. Caroline loved dancing and attended the singles over 50 dance club where she met Bob Branch. Caroline and Bob had a very close and loving relationship for the last 14 years. Bob has been a very important part of Caroline's life as they both loved to travel and they made several trips to various parts of the country. They both also loved going to the casinos and would often make a day trip to try their luck at the slot machines. Caroline was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was very proud of the accomplishments of her two children, Kathie Gressett and her husband Doug, of Midland, TX and David "Randy" Whetsel and his wife Gina, of Prosper, TX. Caroline was lovingly known as Mawmaw by her four grandchildren, Brian and Eric Gressett and Andrea and Courtney Whetsel whom she adored. She also has five great-grandchildren, Preston, Zoey, Braxtyn, Brooke'Lynn and Kahler whom she loved dearly. Caroline was preceded in death by her brothers; Richard and James Sommers and her sister, Josephine Sommers Brigner. She is survived by her daughter, Kathie, her son, David, sister Elizabeth Shoemaker of Chillicothe, Ohio, her brother Joseph Sommers of Colorado Springs, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
