Susan Harmon Sutton
May 4, 1951 - May 26, 2016 "Fly free and happy beyond birthdays and across forever, and well meet now and then when we wish, in the midst of the one celebration that never can end." - There's No Such Place as Far Away Susan Harmon Sutton suffered cardiac failure and died in her home Thursday, May 26th in Plano, Texas. She was 65. Susan was born on May 4, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana, an only child to parents, Jessie R. and Monroe G. Harmon. She married in 1970 and reared her family in the state of Texas. Susan was a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas, and after raising two children, enjoyed a successful career with State Farm Insurance. Susan was most at home in her home, surrounded by the many pets she adored, who similarly adored her, and a multitude of books she read avidly. She was a lover of old movies, BBC television series, and letter writing. Friends from around the country looked forward to her personally penned stories and updates arriving in their good old-fashioned mailboxes on a regular basis. Susan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Steven G. Clary, Sr.; her son and daughter-in-law, John B. Sutton, Jr. and Leanne Sutton; her former husband John B. Sutton, Sr.; her beloved grandchildren, Grace Abigail Clary, Steven Grigsby Clary, Jr. and Sarah Elizabeth Sutton; and the intrepid, ever-fearless Rowdy Cat. Please join Ms. Sutton's family and friends at NorthPark Presbyterian Church, 9555 N. Central Expressway in Dallas, on Saturday, June 4th at 10:00 a.m. for a memorial service and celebration of life. All are welcome to join us as we remember, reminisce, and share stories in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider a gift in her memory to Operation Kindness, a local, no-kill animal shelter where granddaughter, Sarah, currently volunteers as a dog-walker.
