June Hope Swift, age 93, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on January 5, 2018; exactly 64 years after the death of her father. She was born in Hope, Arkansas on June 21, 1924 to Charles Cook and Mattie Colvin Cook. June was raised in Texarkana, Texas and graduated from Texas High School. She married John Alfred Swift (better known as Jack) a military man, and the two shared 63 years of marriage. Jack's service in the Army took them to many states before they settled for about five years in Kansas City, Missouri and, in 1952, they bought their home in Dallas, Texas. June founded, with some help from Jack, the Swift Moist Rite Planter, a company that built specialized planters based on June's design and Jack's craftsmanship. June will be remembered as being friendly and bubbly and for her strong personality. She was an organist, participated in an organ club, enjoyed computer games, sending emails, and making friends. June Hope Swift is preceded in death by her parents and by her sisters; Charlyne Reed and Phles Terrall. She is survived by her daughter, Constance "Connie" Beth Cornell, son-in-law, David Cornell, grandchildren; Mandy Cornell, Grace McCance (fianc, John Thumser), and Paul Cornell, great-grandchildren; Leah McCance and Kyra McCance, as well as extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at University Park Methodist Church 4024 Caruth Blvd., Dallas, TX 75225 on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM. June will be laid to rest with her husband at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a later date.
