Sydney Steven Loke, 67 passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at his home. Sydney was born in Lachine, Montreal, Quebec Province on April 17, 1955. He graduated in 1985 from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology with a degree in Electronics Engineering, and in 2000 he received a bachelor's degree in computer science from Foundation for International Services, Inc., Bothell, Washington. He served in the Lord Strathconas Horse (Royal Canadians) Regiment a regular armored regiment of the Canadian Army and Canadas only tank regiment. He was selected to the Honor Guard participating in the visit of Prince Charles celebrating the Prince's birthday when he met the now King Charles.
In the early to mid-nineties, he worked for Applied Silicon Inc. in Canada as National Field Service Engineer traveling around the world installing network communications in Israel, Asia, and Africa. More recently he was employed by McKesson Corporation as Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET). Sydney could solve and fix any problem. He often said he was able to solve problems others could not as his dyslexia helped him to see things from a different perspective.
He was a master scuba diver and enjoyed diving in the Caribbean. His other loves were horseback riding, and cattle drive. In his earlier life he was part of the Heritage Village Patrimoin in Ottawa, Canada where he performed on stage and directed the play Amadeus.
He was the ultimate handyman always making home improvements and building a 23-foot creek with water falls in his and Connie's backyard. He loved dogs and leaves behind rescued Great Dane, Hailey. He was devoted to his wife and family and was proud of his two daughters and three grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Cornwell, daughter Stacy Loke and her three children Erika Armitage 19, Riley Armitage 16, and William Armitage 11, and daughter Tessa Loke and her wife Suzanne Beausoliel from Edmonton, Alberta. He is also survived by his sister Crystal Nicolaiff, her husband Steve from Ottawa, Canada, his brother Peter Loke and his wife Shelly in Calgary, Canada and by niece and nephews.
Memorial celebration to be held Saturday, May 20, 2:00 PM at the deceased's home 1616 Valleycrest Lane, Carrollton, TX 75006.
