Obituary

Tansil, Thomas Beryl passed away on September 5th in the company of his family. He was born on August 26, 1940, the eldest son or Beryl and Mabel Tansil. Tom graduated from Highland Park High School in 1958 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M in 1963. Also in 1963, a January blind date with Nancy Eddins led to their December wedding in Wynne Chapel, Highland Park Presbyterian Church. They would be married for 45 years and raise two sons together. In 1965 he earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from SMU. After working at Texas Instruments in the 1970s Tom helped found VMX in the 1980s, a Dallas based start-up that built the first digital voicemail systems. Tom immensely enjoyed traveling to Europe with his wife and camping with his sons in Colorado. After Nancy passed away in 2009, Tom took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. Tom is survived by his two sons and their wives, Chris Tansil and Yun, Brad Tansil and Marisa, and his grandchildren Beatrice, Theodore, and Nicolas. Also survived by his brother Michael Tansil and his niece, Nicole McCrory.

A memorial service for Tom will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 14th in Wynne Chapel, Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Donations may be made to CC Young Senior Living in Dallas and the Alzheimer's Association.
