Thomas Joseph Tomaro, age 80, died in Irving, Texas on January 19th, 2024. Tom was fortunate enough to be Lucid until the last day of his life and living independently the way he chose and died with both of his children at his side.
Born November 28th, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware, he lived all over the United States with his parents and siblings, before moving to Texas. He was an Irving resident since 1969. Over the years Tom worked for a variety of companies including: Sears, Bonanza, Dr. Pepper, Portland Cement, Arthur Anderson, and finally with Commercial Metals Corporation where he worked for more than 35 years. Tom was active in his community as an Umpire for Boy's Baseball, a Dallas County Election Judge, Tabulator/Accountant for the Regional and State Democratic Conventions, volunteer and set Carpenter with the Irving Community Theater, elected member of the Irving Arts Board, and Student Aide for Pottery / Ceramics at Northlake College. He adored sharing meals with friends and family and reading with his Great Grandchildren, Evelyn and Benjamin.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Ruth Tomaro; wife of over 52 years Binnie Tomaro; sister, Pat Tomaro; brother Rob Tomaro.
He leaves behind sisters Vicky Garza and Barbara Tomaro; daughter, Tambry Haagen, husband Brad; grandson, Roger Gaston, wife Meredith; grandson Joiey Gaston; son Tom Tomaro, Jr. , wife Bette; granddaughter Donna Leyens, husband Doug; grandson Eric Wolf, wife Lizbeth, six great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2pm, Saturday February 3rd at St. Mark's Episcopal Church 516 S. O Connor Road, Irving, Texas 75060. Gathering to follow in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to The American Heart Association (www.heart.org), North Texas Wildlife Center (www.ntxwildlife.org), or Dallas Cat Lady (www.dallascatlady.org).
