Dr. Vernon R. Nesmith, DDS, MAGD, went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2026.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 28, 1946 to Hayden R. and Lydia Frances (Coffman) Nesmith, Vernon grew up in Lubbock, Texas. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. He earned a master's degree from Boston University and later served four years in the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany. Following his military service, he attended Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, graduating in 1978.

Throughout his distinguished career, Vernon served on the Board of Dental Examiners and the American Dental Society Board. In 2010, he achieved the honor of earning his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Wichita Falls, Texas, for 42 years before retiring.

In 1977, Vernon married Susie Boyd Nesmith in Dallas, Texas. Together, they built a loving family, including two children, Reuben Lee Nesmith of San Antonio, Texas, and Leslie M. Nesmith of Celina, Tx and one cherished granddaughter, Hayden K. Nesmith of San Antonio, Texas.

A faithful member of Overcoming Word Praise Center, Vernon participated in numerous mission trips to Honduras, where he provided dental care to those in need. His deep love for the Lord shone through everything he did, and he lived as a true example of God's love to everyone he met.

Dr. Nesmith will be laid to rest at DFW National Cemetery. No other service will be held at this time. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Vernon's memory do something kind for someone in need.
