Sue Patton

Sue Patton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at the age of 86, at her home in Edgemere Senior Living in Dallas.

Sue was born on May 18, 1940, near Ava, Missouri, to Olene Marcus Haynes and Sybil Virginia (McGill) Haynes. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1957 and earned a degree in Business Administration from Missouri State University in 1961, where she was an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.

In 1962, Sue met Bob Patton through a mutual friend. They married in June 1963 and shared more than 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and an enduring love for one another.

Together they raised three children—Amy, Susan, and Brent—and made their home in Dallas for more than 60 years. Sue was devoted to her family and remained active throughout her life in community and civic organizations.

Faith was the cornerstone of Sue's life. She and Bob were longtime members of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, where she served in numerous ministries and leadership roles. She also volunteered for more than 30 years at the Saint Michael Woman's Exchange.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Brent.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Patton; daughters Amy (Brian) Sward of Denver and Susan (Fritz) Curtis of Southlake; daughter-in-law Raina Patton of Tyler; brother Joe (Flo) Haynes of McKinney; sisters-in-law Gayle Patton and Sue Patton of Houston; granddaughters Ashley (Ryan) Patterson and Camille Curtis; grandson Aidan (Mercedes) Patton; great-grandchildren Juni Patton and Sully Patton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful to the staff of The Plaza at Edgemere and especially to Sue's devoted caregiver and companion, Dee Young, for their loving care.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Avenue, Dallas, with a reception to follow. Guests are invited to wear one of Sue's favorite color combinations—blue and white.
