Wanda LaVelle
Pippin
May 27, 1938 — Jun 25, 2026
Wanda LaVelle Pippin, 88, of Irving, Texas, left us to meet the Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Wanda was born May 27, 1938 in Ranger, Texas, to Katherine LaVelle Earnest (Kreger) and Jesse Chapman Minter. She spent the majority of her life in the Houston area, and graduated from Milby High School in 1956. Wanda began her professional life at American Title Company where she met her future husband, Don Blanding Pippin, to whom she was married on March 22, 1957. They had 4 children, Angela, Carol, Jerry, and Katherine, and raised their family in the church. Wanda worked as a secretary for fifty years, and for a number of companies, including the kCity of Houston Police Department (dispatch), Uvalde Rock Asphalt Company, Oleson Elementary School (Aldine ISD), Exxon, Highlands Insurance Company, and finally Desert Mountain Medical. The legacy Wanda has left behind was based on her strong faith and belief in Jesus - it permeated every aspect of her life. Her gentle, meek spirit coupled with her knowledge of the Word was a formidable influence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her friends and neighbors. She and Don were known to take in whole families and care for them until they could get back on their feet. She never asked for or expected anything in return. She was a prayer warrior with an unshakable belief in the good in others and in what God could do in their lives. She recited the Twenty-Third Psalm daily, answered phone calls in the early hours of the morning and very late at night, and when she prayed for others, she prayed quietly and on her knees. She truly believed God could change any heart; she knew when to speak, and she knew when to listen. She was always a lady, and her devotion to others led several to come to know Jesus as their Savior. She was the champion of our family and we and her dear friends feel her loss profoundly. She is survived by her brother Phillip Kreger (Teresa), her sister Josie Kay Vernon (Albert III), daughter Carol Pippin-Duncan, son Jerry Pippin (Tami), daughter Kathy Pippin-Stewart (Marcus Scroggins), granddaughters Melissa Pippin-Becker (Harry) and Hannah Stewart, grandsons Jason White (Samantha), Dale Pippin (Brittany), Lee Taylor Duncan (Andrea), David Stewart, and Jonathan Stewart, great-granddaughters Grace, Mercy, Lily, Haley, Hunter and McKenzie, and great-grandsons Benjamin, Luke, Michael and Bryson. She is also survived by her aunt, Hazel Townsend, her nephews Patrick and Michael Townsend (Gwen), her nieces Janice Townsend, and Sherrie Hoppens, her nephews Riley Kreger, Albert Vernon IV (Laura), her nieces Julie Vernon-Cortez, Sky Vernon and her great nephew Anthony Cortez. Wanda is also survived by special friends of the family Suzanne Paustian-Duncan, Nadine Henson (Robert), Rick White (Kathryn), Randy Stewart, as well as her very dear friend Laura McGaskey.Wanda was preceded in death by her mother Katherine, father Jesse, step-father Joseph Kreger, daughter Angela Pippin, brother Kerry Kreger, sister-in-law Trecia Townsend-Hoppens, son-in-law Aubrey Neal Duncan, grandson Richard Christopher White, and her beloved husband of 62 years, Don.The family wishes to especially thank the employees and leaders at Integra for their constant good thoughts, messages, kind wishes, food, support, and the flowers they sent to us; the Bill and Holly Finegan family, the Mark and Susan Ruch family, the Albert and Lexie Roblez family, the Matt and Denise Koerner family, the John and Crystal Kolar family, Lori Willox, Rachel Krantz, Beatriz Wolpert, the Paustian family, and so many others for their love and support.
