WEBB, DAVID FRANKLIN was born 17 Oct 1964 In Winter Park, FL and passed away suddenly on 8 January 2017. Generous and loving father, husband, son, and brother, David was preceded in death by his oldest brother Danny, special Aunt and Uncle Jim and Wanda Westfall, and grandparents. David is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Stephenie, beloved son Nicholas, parents Kenneth and Vona Webb, sister Kenita (Randy) Bushee, brother, Ken (Pam) Webb and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and two sweet guinea pigs, Annie and Nancy. He graduated from Astronaut High School, 1982 (Titusville, FL), attended UCF (Orlando, FL), and graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio, with a degree in Electrical Engineering (EIT certificate). As a drummer in his high school marching band, David formed friendships that lasted his lifetime. He had the distinction of performing with Suncoast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (member Drum Corps International) during the years the corps earned Open Class/Division I Finalist. David's number one joy was as a husband and father, teaching his son the joys of fishing, hiking, camping, and his love for the "good" music. He couldn't have been more proud of his son's accomplishments in Scouting, school, and developing into the wonderful young man he is today. David generously gave his time to his church, serving as lead for their Habitat for Humanity efforts; as an ELF and head ELF, making toys for St. Simon's Kids; and making crosses for the annual Honduras Mission Trip, which he called the "beating heart of the church". He will also be remembered as his neighborhood's 'fix it' man. David began his scouting career as a Cub Scout in Langdon, ND, re-engaging as an adult volunteer when his son became a Cub Scout. David was Treasurer of Cub Pack 836 (DeGolyer Elementary) and Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 800 (Lovers Lane UMC). He attended Wood Badge 108 and was beaded on Nov 2014. As an active Scouter, David's passion was training, whether adults or youth. A Scout Instructor, he taught Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, Advanced Leader Training, and classes at the University of Scouting. He was also a certified NRA Range Safety Officer, staffing many district outdoor events. He served as Blackland Prairie District's Roundtable Commissioner. He was inducted into the Order of the Arrow (BSA's honor society), became an OA Associate Advisor for the Makade Aki Chapter, and attained Brotherhood. David molded the lives of many young men in the community. David began his career as a design engineer intern with Martin Marietta (Orlando), followed by Pratt & Whitney (West Palm Beach), where he met his future wife, an engineering co-op student. David said he knew the minute she walked into the office that she was The One. He loved that she was smart and told her so, often. Their marriage took them to Texas, where he earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and began another career: Test Development Engineer for McDonald Technologies in San Antonio, TX; Senior Design Engineer for Nokia Networks, Irving, TX; Senior Software Engineer at Sirit Technologies; Senior Digital Design Engineer at EF Johnson Technologies; and Senior Engineer at Eltek Valere. He currently worked for Flextronics as a Senior Firmware Engineer. Services will be Saturday, 14 January, at his parish: Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 11122 Midway Road, Dallas TX. Reception will follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or to Friends of Scouting. David will always be remembered for his mischievous smile and ongoing jokes. His love for his family will truly be missed and there will always be a void in our hearts.
