Obituary

Edith Dorothea Weiss (Edie) was called to heaven on Sunday, January 28, 2018, only a few months short of her 91st birthday, at her residence in Carrollton, TX where she passed peacefully to sleep due to complications from cancer. She was born April 16, 1927 to Dorothea (Sampe) and Hugo Jeske in Milwaukee, WI, both deceased, and is survived by her sister Annette Moore of Milwaukee, WI and brother Richard Jeske, Fort Myers, FL. She was preceded to heaven by her beloved husband of 39 years, Robert Charles Weiss from West, Bend, WI. Her legacy of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren includes: Jeffrey Weiss, his wife and four children; Greta (Weiss) Abtahi and husband Ali (Plano, TX) and their children: Christopher, Cameron and Houdini Abtahi, and his wife Jesslyn and two children Maddie and Emma; Robin Weiss and his wife Ginny (Westbury, NY) and his daughter Katie; and Roger (Chip) Weiss and his wife Carolyn (Cheshire, England) and their children: Emily Glancy and Sam Glancy. She touched the lives of so many. In her youth, she was a camp counselor, loved the outdoors and was active in gymnastics with the Milwaukee Turners. A graduate of University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, she pursued a teaching career in physical education. Before moving to Texas, she spent most of her married life in Muncie, IN where she worked as school secretary at Burris High School and various other administrative positions at Ball State University, until she retired in 1982. She spent 30 years alongside her husband supporting his avocation in Barbershop harmony, and she sang for a brief period with the Sweet Adeline's Chapter in Dallas. Edith was an active volunteer serving the Lord at Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano and was a faithful contributor to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Wildlife Foundation. She loved crafts of all kinds; from ceramics to needlework, and would never turn down a good game of Bingo. A service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1801 W Plano Parkway, Plano, TX on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 3:15 P.M. later that day. In lieu of flowers, we appreciate your kind donation to the American Cancer Society or Messiah Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700
