Shawn Kathleen Heath Weiss ran into the arms of Jesus Tuesday evening, February 26, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. Her body was not stronger than the cancer, but her spirit was and is now rejoicing with our Lord with a new heavenly body. Shawn was born in Gulfport, Mississippi October 4, 1967. She was 51 years old. She is survived by her godly husband, Casey Weiss, two beautiful daughters Mikaela Weiss (16) and Blaire Weiss (14), her mother Allison Trelles Heath, great aunt Dr. Elizabeth Carrow Woolfolk, uncles Donald Cooper and wife Penny, David Trelles and wife Kim and family, Stephen Trelles, Jewel Heath and wife Betsy and aunt Valerie Lalumiere. She is preceded in death by her father, Wylie Lee Heath, her maternal grandparents Macrino R. Trelles and Amelie Jane (Diddie) Woolfolk Trelles, paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Macrino R. Trelles Sr., uncle Macrino R. Trelles, Jr., and great uncle Robert M. Woolfolk, Jr. Shawn's relationship with the Lord started at the age of 5. Her father was pastor of First Baptist Church Waveland, MS. Every Sunday morning when the invitation was extended at the conclusion of the service, she would march down to the front of the church and tell her dad that she wanted to invite Jesus into her heart. Her dad would tell her they would discuss it after the service. They would discuss it at the dinner table, but her dad would tell her that she needed to wait. This went on for several months each time telling her that she needed to wait. She finally had enough waiting and on a Sunday morning she walked the isle and in front of the congregation shouted out that she was ready to accept Jesus and to be baptized and it was going to be that night. That was the kind of person Shawn was and her faith was strong until the moment her spirit went to heaven. Shawn moved to Dallas at the age of 10 with her parents and entered First Baptist Academy as a 4th grader. She graduated in 1985 and went on to the University of North Texas graduating with a BA in Business Administration. She pledged the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority as a charter member. After graduating college, Shawn moved back home and began the next chapter in her life in the work force. Every position she held, she excelled in. She had such a way with people always with such a confident and positive attitude. She never knew a stranger. Her smile was addictive and her talents were immeasurable. She could do anything and if she did face a challenge, always seemed to figure it out. Her gift of organization was amazing and no matter what she had to do she was prepared. God's plan was in the marriage of Shawn and Casey from the very beginning. They were both 32 and had not found their sole mates yet. One evening at the home of a mutual friend where Shawn was invited, Casey's mom and the party hostess were chatting when Casey's mom looked over at Shawn as if a light went off in her head, immediately asking the question, "Is there any reason why Casey and Shawn shouldn't get married?" The hostess said, "I don't think so". So Casey's mom went over to Shawn and told her that her son Casey was planning to move back to Dallas from College Station and if he called her for a date would she accept? Shawn said "Sure!". And as they say, the rest was history. From their first date it was love at first sight. Casey has always said that Shawn was his "dream girl". They met in October and married the following June. Shawn was instantly welcomed into the Weiss family and brought so much happiness and vitality. They moved to Houston for a short time right after the wedding and then returned to Dallas to make their home. Two years later they were blessed with their first daughter Mikaela and then daughter Blaire came 2 years almost to the date after that. Shawn was an only child but after marrying into Casey's family it suddenly grew with brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and their extended families. Shawn had a servant's heart, always thinking of others, whether to providing spiritual or physical support during an illness, preparing a meal, taking a housewarming gift, volunteering, this list goes on and on. She was a member of the Junior League for two years, volunteered at the Crystal Charity Ball, she and Casey worked in the nursery at their church, helped friends with coordinating their weddings, she was certified as a cheer coach and judge through TAPPS and too many more achievements to list. Shawn was always organized and prepared or working behind the scenes to serve others, but never seeking personal recognition. She was such an inspiration and blessing to all whose lives she touched. The one thing that Shawn would want, is for you to be assured of your salvation. To do this, you must believe that Jesus died and rose for your sins, invite Him into your heart, and ask Him to forgive you of your sins.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Shawn will be held on March 16, 2019 at Lake Pointe Church White Rock, 9150 Garland Road, 75218 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the Trinity Christian Academy Foundation, 17001 Addison Road, Addison, TX 75001.
