Obituary

Virgil Lee White was born on January 4, 1935 in Wellington TX to William V White (Jack) and Lola Bratten White and passed away on June 24, 2014 peacefully at Centennial Hospital in Frisco, TX. He was survived by his wife of 57 years, Beth Smith White, son Stephen V White, daughter Tanya White Davis, son in law James A Davis Jr, granddaughter Heather Christine Davis and sister Valerie White Grisham. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jeralene (Jerry) White DeBord. Virgil had many athletic achievements in football, basketball and track that were well known in the community. He also later won many trophies in bowling and golf, two sports that he loved dearly and had many good times playing. He grew up singing gospel music with his family and was known for his outstanding bass voice. The family still enjoys listening to recordings of this music. He served his country in the US Marine Corps and was stationed in Korea just after the peace treaty was signed. He was also sent to Japan to compete in track and field events where he won many awards. Virgil had a very successful career in the telecommunications industry starting with Mountain Bell in Albuquerque, NM. He owned a grocery store and television repair store in Union, TX. He worked in Alaska. He worked for the space center in Pasadena, TX. He developed telephone training for Texas A&M. He spent many years in Galion, OH with North Electric Company and then moved back to Texas working for NEC America. Later, he went to work in real estate, ending with a position as Office Manager for Herman Boswell Property Management. He retired after 13 years with Herman Boswell. He loved his family dearly and worked hard to provide for them. He was loved and respected by all. A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 3rd, 2014 at ARIA Memorial Chapel.
