William John Donwen, 88, of Dallas, Texas passed away on Saturday November 16, 2024.

Bill was born on March 29,1936 in Jackson, Minnesota. He attended Jackson High School and graduated in 1957 from the University of Minnesota with a degree in agricultural economics. He was a member of the professional agricultural fraternity Alpha Gamma Rho.

Survivors are sons Jeffery Donwen of Silver Lake, MN; Bradley Donwen and wife Diane of Buffalo, MN; Stepsons James Hutchinson and wife Julie of Westfield, NJ; and Jon Hutchinson and wife Lisa of Murphy, TX. Bill has 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. His wife Bonnie Ann (Darby), his parents, younger brother Jon and his sister Edyth Rieder preceded him in death. The other survivor is Rita Faye Cunningham of Torance, CA.

Over the years he served in an executive capacity with Allied-Signal Corp. in NYC; Burroughs-Wellcome in Chicago; Merck and CO., Rahway NJ and president of Gustafson LLC. Headquartered in Plano, TX. from 1975 thru 19944 when he opted for an early retirement.

Over the years he served on numerous boards including Calgene, Davis, CA; Agridyne Technologies, Salt Lake City, and Biosys. INC in Columbia, Maryland. After retirement, he assumed the position as CEO of Agridyne until it was merged into a consortium.

Bill was active for many years in various agricultural and business associations including The Agricultural Crop Protection Assn., American Seed Trade Assoc., and the U.S. Feed Grains Council. The National Agricultural Marketing Association voted him marketer of the year in 1990.
