William Wayne
Mundt
Jan 16, 1956 — Nov 4, 2024
William Wayne Mundt, 68, of Richardson, Texas, passed away suddenly on November 4, 2024, after a brief illness. Bill was born on January 16, 1956, in San Diego, California. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Virginia Lynn Hammond, his daughter Nicole Selling (Matthew), grandson Bennett Selling, son Eric Mundt, father William Alan Mundt, Mother Shirley Louise Wesche, sister Kathy McLeod (Michael), brother Noahal Mundt (Amy), sister Karla Edge (Michael), brother-in-law Trey Hammond, several beloved nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
Bill was a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas and spent most of his adult life working in technology, procurement, and consulting. Throughout his career, he was employed at various companies including Texas Instruments, CSC, and WatchGuard. Bill retired in 2018 and found great pleasure in gardening, backyard birding, and spending time with his best pal – his dog Sally.
Bill was often the life of the party with his quick wit and zest for life. He had a way with words and wrote very expressive poetry. He appreciated listening to jazz, funk, and classic rock music and was a beer connoisseur long before it became a trend. Bill enjoyed watching and supporting his local sports teams, especially baseball, and was elated when his Texas Rangers finally won a World Series.
Bill cherished his family, especially his son Eric and daughter Nicole. He was very proud of them and found great satisfaction in his close relationship with them. Bill also treasured many friendships throughout his life. He was preceded in death by two close friends, Howard Cale and Joe Stanco. Hopefully, he is reunited with them now.
Bill Mundt was a very loving and lovable person. He was a warm, compassionate, and romantic husband. His wife, Virginia, loved him for over 40 years and will miss him forever.
Due to the birth of his first grandchild, who was born two days after Bill passed away, a memorial service for him will be held at a later time. The family wishes to celebrate the new life given to them before honoring the one lost. Bill would have wanted that as well.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a favorite charity.
