Obituary

William Howard Swanson

December 13, 1952 – December 23, 2024

William "Bill" Howard Swanson, 72, of Sargent, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2024, in Plano, Texas. Bill was born on December 13, 1952, in Marshall, Minnesota, to Howard and Betty Swanson.

Bill proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his service, he began his career with PPG Glass in Marshall, MN, in 1975 and later retired from Vitro America Glass in Farmers Branch, TX, in 2008. Following his retirement, he settled in Sargent, TX, where he enjoyed the peacefulness of coastal life.

Bill was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He had a gift for fixing and building just about anything and was always the first to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He was the "go-to guy" in any situation and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by his loving family, including his four children: Shala Irwin, Leea Upchurch, Billie Suchocki, and Ryan Swanson; nine grandchildren: Kayla Bartow, Austin Upchurch, Cade Irwin, Grace Irwin, Bradley Campbell, Claire Campbell, Caroline Suchocki, Liz Suchocki, and Rylea Swanson; and three great-grandchildren: Brantley and Nash Bartow and Walker Upchurch. He also leaves behind his mother, Betty Swanson, his sister, Myia Sanow, and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Howard Swanson, and his sister, Charlene Claeys Sapp.

Bill's legacy of kindness, resourcefulness, and generosity will be cherished forever. Fly high, Dad, until we see you again.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fisher House.
