Services for Glen Allen Winn, 72, of The Colony are scheduled for 10:30 A.M., on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at ARIA Memorial Chapel in Dallas. Mr. Winn passed away on October 12th. He was born on November 26, 1940 in Carroll, Iowa to the late Edward and Rose Marie Otjen Winn. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Lois Ann Winn and a brother, Donald Winn. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Phyllis Winn of The Colony; loving daughter, Stephanie Van Zomeren and husband Joel of Burnsville, Minnesota and cherished son, Brad Winn and his fianc, Jayna Denton of Frisco; precious grandchildren, Chris and Jeanette; six sisters, Arlene Anderson of Carroll, Iowa, Geraldine (Don) Whited of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Corinne (Jerry) Gute of Burnet, Texas, Gloria (Dennis) Ries of Azle, Texas, Mary (Tom) Cota of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Georgia (Steve) Schmickle of Marion, Iowa; 2 brothers, Marion "Windy" (Delores) Winn of Marion, Iowa and Jim Winn also of Marion, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Glen was a 1959 graduate from Carroll High School, Carroll, IA. He was in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1963-69. He attended Weaver's Airline School, Kansas City, MO in 1964. The same year he started with Ozark Airlines at O'hare Field, Chicago, IL as a ramp agent. He was the Station Manager at Waterloo, Iowa airport in 1986 when the TWA merger occurred. In 1988 he transferred to DFW airport as a customer service agent. After the American Airlines merger, he retired in 2003. During retirement he worked part-time at a RaceTrac convenience store and fully retired in 2009. Glen was the star basketball player in high school and junior college. He was an avid sports fan and an enthusiastic fisherman. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 P.M. on Monday evening, Oct. 14th, at ARIA Funeral Home. Another memorial service will be held in Cedar Rapids, IA, at a date to be announced.
