Julia "Judy" Jury Ziegler passed away peacefully at her home in Dallas, Texas surrounded by friends and family on Thursday, September 7, 2017. She was 96 years old. Judy was born to Paul Adair and Charrie Rachel Beard Jury on November 9, 1920 at Maple Hill Farm near Jacksontown, Ohio where she and her younger brother Jerry grew up. Judy attended Jacksontown High School and went on to attend Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. While there, she met Carl William Ziegler, a young percussionist from Sandusky, Ohio. They were married on September 5th of 1942 at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Jacksontown, Ohio and were married for 66 years. Carl served in the United States Navy in World War II and upon his arrival home, he and Judy moved with their first child, Kristan to Omaha, Nebraska. While in Omaha their son, Jon Townsend was born. After their time in Omaha, the family of four moved to Kansas and bought a home in Ottawa. Soon after came their third child, Stephanie Ann and eight years later, William Adair was born and the family was complete. Following opportunity with Harper and Row Publishing, Carl and Judy moved the family south to Dallas, Texas. Judy then enjoyed focusing on raising their children in Lake Highlands while Carl traveled as a book salesman. Judy was active in her church, St. James Episcopal in Lake Highlands and loved to put her musical talents on display while volunteering at nursing homes in the community. An avid gardener, Judy kept her big back yard beautiful and her flowers in bloom until the day she died. A gracious and welcoming host to all she encountered, Judy was known for opening up her home to family, friends and neighbors. She and Carl lived their long and joyful lives in that same home full of music, books, love, laughter and memories where the coffee pot was always on. Judy is survived by her children, Kris King and husband Carey, Ann Williams and husband, Lawrence and Bill Ziegler and wife Lisa. She is also survived by her grandchildren Charrie South, Brandon King and wife Sharon, Chad Dobbs and wife Laurie, Julie Forbes and husband Kelly, Emily Ziegler, and Matt Ziegler along with her great-grandchildren Casey and Nicky King, Max Martinez, Isaac and Ryder Forbes. She is also survived by her brother Jerry Jury and his wife Gloria, as well as nieces and nephews. Judy is predeceased by her husband Carl Ziegler and son Jon Townsend Ziegler. Judy will be laid to rest with her husband and son at Restland in Dallas, Texas at a private gathering of family on a later date.
