Obituary
Y. J. “Pete” Elizondo, born Feb. 24, 1926, passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday. He was a WWII Army veteran, and a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. An alumnus of Auburn University (BS), he received his Masters in Engineering from Iowa State University after the war. He was employed for nearly 40 years at Vought (LTV) and was active in the Vought Heritage Society. At LTV, he worked on projects ranging from fighter planes for the Navy to missiles to DFW Airport’s original rail transit system. He received his MBA in International Finance from the University of Dallas. Pete was an original Dallas Cowboys season ticket holder and was an avid Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks and Auburn Tigers fan. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Rosemary, his daughter Lisette McSoud Mondello, son-in-law Joseph, grandson Matthew, his sister Margarita Adams and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 3:00 pm in Shipp Chapel at Lovers Lane Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the National World War II Memorial at www.Wwiimemorialfriends.org.
