Mae Newman Perron passed away in Plano, Texas on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, with her daughter, Donna Sweeney and two grand daughters, Hannah and Madeline Sweeney and family friend, Beth Riggs at her bedside. The 83-year old native of Savannah, Georgia, was born May 11, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Robert “Bob” Perron; her son Douglas Robert Perron; her sister, Darleen Williford; her brothers, Clarence Newman; Frank Newman Jr.; Arlen Newman; her mother, Maxie Barnard Newman; and her father, James Frank Newman.

Mrs. Perron was a 1951 graduate of Commercial High School in Savannah, Georgia. She married Bob Perron, the love of her life, on January 14, 1956 in Savannah where Bob was stationed in the United States Air Force at Hunter AFB.

Mae was affectionately known as “Gramae” to her grand daughters and their friends. We remember Mae as a “Steel Magnolia” who valued the polite manners of a southern lady.  She loved to laugh and have fun.

Bob and Mae maintained a true romance through their 50 years of marriage.  Special times were spent during summer vacations on the beach at St. Augustine, Florida where they watched their grand daughters and the children of extended family members grow up.

They loved to travel and Bob was fond of putting together scrapbooks of their European adventures together. They attended many Olympic events over the years as guests of Xerox.

Mae is survived by: her daughter, Donna Marie (Perron) Sweeney; her son-in-law, Brendan Sweeney; her two grand daughters, Hannah Marie Sweeney and Madeline Mae Sweeney.

My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!
