Tony Leroy Gideon (July 11, 1944 – July 4, 2016) Mesquite, TX Tony Gideon, age 71, of Mesquite died peacefully on July 4, 2016. He was born July 11, 1944 to Clyde and Nova Thames Gideon in Powderly, Texas. He served in the Navy as a Jet Mechanic at Midway Island, Whidbey Island, WA and Pearl Harbor, HI until the end of 1963. He married Linda Jean Kendrick in 1964 and began a 51-year love affair with the love of his life. Mr. Gideon was known throughout Texas for his skillful home building and commercial finishing. He took pride in masterfully working with his hands and mathematical mind. He retired in 2009 from a commercial construction company where he directed the finishing of countless buildings in Dallas/Ft Worth. He enjoyed time with his family, telling stories, tinkering with cars and houses, and hunting and fishing with his brothers and grandchildren. Mr. Gideon was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny and Roy Gideon. Mr. Gideon was survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Kendrick Gideon; two daughters, Angela Gideon Benedetto and husband Gary; and Toni Lynn Gideon MacWithey and husband Robby; a son, Ronnie Gideon and wife Michelle; eight grandchildren, Anthony and Nicholas Benedetto of Shreveport, Louisiana; Justin, Brandon, and Brittney Gideon of Mililani, Hawaii; and, Beth, Destiny and Bryan MacWithey of Dallas, Texas; and brother Charles Gideon of Rowlett, Texas; and sister, Stephanie Gideon Constante of Tyler, Texas; six great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Lakeside Activity Center, 101 Holley Park Drive, Mesquite, Texas.
