Obituary
Dr. Dong Sung Lee, 83, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2016. Born to Yi Bae Lee and Soon Myong Jie on Jan. 1, 1933, he graduated from Seoul National University Medical School, then served as a medical officer in the Korean Air Force. He trained for two years to become a Flight Surgeon at USAF School of Aerospace Medicine in San Antonio, Texas (The Brooks Air Force base). He then returned to Korea and served as the Chief of Flight Surgeons of Fighter Wing based in Taegu, Korea. Discharged from the Air Force in 1967, he relocated to America with his wife, Elizabeth Yung Sim Kang, and three daughters to complete his medical internship at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, VA. He went on to practice at Bel-Park Anesthesia Associates, Inc. in Youngstown, Ohio until his retirement to California in 2000. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading and collecting books, pins, mugs, pipes, pens and gadgets from around the world. He will be forever remembered as a brilliant physician with a sharp sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving sister Hae Sung Lee. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth Yung Sim Lee, brothers Hee Sung and Ik Sung Lee, sister Geum Sung Lee, children Janet, Sharyl, Jill, John, David, Grace, Betty, and grandchildren Alexa, Jason, Erica, Nicole, Philip, Daniel, Nina, Ryan, Michael, Natalee, Alex, Amanda, Jake, Ava, Ben, and Emma. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 P.M., Friday, July 29, 2016 at North Dallas Funeral Chapel located at 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas (Farmers Branch), Texas 75234. A reception will follow at Sura Korean Bistro located at 2240 Royal Lane, Dallas, Texas 75229.
