Obituary

Christian James Sanchez was born in Plano, Texas and was killed during a storm while camping near Basswood Lake in Ontario, Canada while participating in a BSA Northern Tier Trek from the Charles L Sommers Canoe Base. He is survived by his parents, James Omar Sanchez and Rhonda Russell Sanchez; his sister, Isabella Michelle Sanchez; his grandmother, Yolanda Sanchez Coco; and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.  Christian was devoted to his older sister, Isabella, and at the time of his death considered his Northern Tier Crewmates as his brothers. Christian was a joyful young man who was always ready for an adventure.  He was entering the eighth grade at Trinity Christian Academy where he was an excellent student, a promising athlete, an artist and a caring friend to all.  Christian was a Prince of Peace Christian School “Eagle” from preschool through fourth grade where he made some of his most lasting friendships. Christian was an active and beloved member of St Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.  He spent many hours at St Andrew from the earliest ages.  Christian was a worship leader from kindergarten to his death as an integral member of the children’s and then Salt and Light youth choirs.  He was an active member of the St Andrew Youth Group.  In the last weeks of his life, Christian poured out God’s love on others in Lake Providence Louisiana on the annual youth Mission Trip and throughout New York City on the annual Salt and Light Youth Choir Concert Tour. Christian embodied the tenants of the Scout Law.  Christian joined Pack 701 (sponsored by Prince of Peace Christian School and Lutheran Church) as a Tiger Cub in first grade eagerly completing each requirement to advance through the Cub Scout and Webelos ranks culminating in his earning of the Arrow of Light and Webelos Super Achiever Awards.  Christian enthusiastically made the transition to Boy Scouts in fifth grade and was a valued member of Troop 121 (sponsored by First United Methodist Church of Carrollton).  Troop 121 enabled Christian’s natural leadership skills to be refined through various Patrol leadership positions and completion of Den Chief Training, Oak Leaf Training and National Youth Leadership Training.  In 2016, Christian was named Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, served as acting Senior Patrol Leader for Summer Camp at Camp Constantin and was nominated to the Order of the Arrow national honor society  by election of his peers.  Subsequent to his death, Christian has been awarded the Spirit of the Eagle Award by the Boy Scouts of America. Visitation will be held at Aria Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:30pm.  A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at St Andrew United Methodist Church on Friday, July 29, 2016, at 10am with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Sanchez Memorial Scholarship Fund at Trinity Christian Academy. “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”  Isaiah 40:8 Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700 CJSanchez2 Image-1 (2)

I was blessed to have been Christian’s teacher for four years in the Gifted and Talented Program at Prince of Peace Christian School. Christian’s mere presence in our classroom evoked happiness, laughter, and smiles. His natural curiosity and love for learning motivated everyone around him. He loved life, and his energy and enthusiasm was contagious. Christian will be deeply missed, but his memory will light the world for those of us who loved him until we meet again. Rest in peace, Sweet Christian. Thank you for your presence in my life.

    Rhonda,
As a mother to two young boys, I just can’t imagine the heartache you are enduring. Although I never met Christian, I know he was a very special young man. And wow – that smile – so contagious! I believe he is wrapped in the arms of our Savior now and so proud of his accomplishments on earth. I’m praying for strength, peace, comfort and a new joy for you. I’m here for you if you need anything!

John 14:27 – I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give is not fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

My son Aaron was the SPL at Oak Leaf training last October. He said he was drawn to Christian, and spent the whole day intercting with him. His smile was so contagious, and his heart was so warm that he left a lasting impression on my son. Although he is with God he truley left his mark on this earth. He will always be remembered and remain in everyone’s hearts. Aaron is doing his Eagle project as redesigning a Prayer area in our local church. He would like to dedicate it to Christian. Hope you take comfort in his JOY!

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
