Livingston, Fern Opal Davidson

Fern was born on September 13, 1935 in Thomas, Oklahoma and set free from the bondage of ALS on September 10, 2016 in Richardson, Texas.

Fern was a hard, sweet, and righteous lady.  She was a loving, devoted and selfless wife and mother.  Her family came before everything else except God.  She was an exceptional homemaker, with remarkable sewing and cooking skills.  She made all the clothing for herself and her daughters. Everyone loved her fried chicken, potatoes and gravy.

Fern grew up on a farm in depression era Oklahoma.  Under the guidance of her parents, her faith developed from an early age and continued to grow throughout her life.  She met her future husband, Lyle, when her family moved to town for her to go to high school.  They married shortly after she graduated from high school and started their family.

Fern served the Lord and her family as a Scout leader, youth group sponsor and in many other ways.  She was active in the Christian Women’s Club, Bible Study Fellowship and numerous Bible studies in her churches. Fern served as an Elder in her church and as a Trustee for Phillips University. Her deeds and service bore witness of her faith to her family, friends and all she met.

She was an avid reader and writer. She enjoyed gardening, home decorating and jewelry making.  She loved making new friends and especially cherished babies and children.

Despite the hardships of her afflictions, Fern remained joyful, loving, and filled with gratitude to the end.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Lyle Livingston, parents Robert and Lillie Davidson, brothers Bob Davidson and J.D. Davidson

She is survived by her brother and sister Alan and Judy Livingston of Enid, OK, her children, Lynn and Mindy Livingston of Richardson, TX, Linda and Ronnie Nutt of Dallas, TX, and Leslee DeShazo of Durango, CO; her grandchildren, Shawn and Hillary Boulden, Scott and Marija Wheeler, Chuck and Julie Wheeler, Victor Wheeler, Michael and Amanda Nutt, Matthew and Samantha Nutt, Mason Nutt and his fiancé Hannah Dziuk, Kate and Fred Wood, Kelsea and David Dubuque and Lyle DeShazo; her great-grandchildren, Mazzy and Fisher Boulden, Ella and Emma Dubuque, and Philip and Ezra Wheeler; her nieces and nephews, Julie Duffy, Jana McWilliams, Lisa Pritchard, Lori Beck, Daniel Davidson, and Shelly Luke.
