Cofer, Roger Dale
Obituary
Roger Cofer was the youngest of the five children born to Hiram and Sue Cofer. He was raised by a loving hard working farming family near Winnsboro in east Texas. After graduating from Winnsboro High School in 1968 Roger moved to Dallas, TX. Roger was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1963, and remained active in the volunteer work performed by Jehovah’s Witnesses until his death. He met the love of his life, Beverly Conant, in the congregation in Dallas and they were married on March 4, 1972. They remained in Dallas and raised two children, Randy Cofer of Dallas and Cindy Cofer of Rockwall. He worked hard to care for his family as a skilled carpenter and craftsman. Being very handy he enjoyed teaching others the skills he acquired, especially his grandchildren. But he always made time to enjoy his family whether playing dominoes or snow skiing. Roger is survived by his wife Beverly, son Randy and his wife Sarah, daughter Cindy, and five grandchildren Mason, Micah, Aaron, Emma, and Ethan. As well as his four siblings Charline Cady, Leola Scofield, Harvel Cofer, Wilma Crone and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday October 8th, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2749 S. Sam Houston Rd. Dallas, TX 75227 Arrangements are under the direction of: ARIA Cremation Service & Funeral Home 10116 E. NW Highway Dallas, Texas 75238 214.340.8008

I was devastated to hear of Roger’s passing. Roger and Beverly were part of what I considered the foundation of my life in our youth. Spiritual, warm, and a lot of fun, they added so much to our congregation. Even after all of these years have passed and I am now living in Florida, whenever I think of Dallas I always think of them as still being the pillars that they were then. Although it’s hard to imagine Roger being gone, I look forward to seeing him again soon in the resurrection, where I’m sure he’ll pick up where he left off and devote himself full time to helping others learn about our wonderful and caring God, Jehovah. We are poorer for being without him, but richer for having known him. I love you guys and keep you in my prayers.
Roger was my father-in-law. Or, as he wished to be called, daddy-in-law, sir He had a very dry humor about him, and loved telling the latest joke he had learned. His grandkids were very special to him, and they all loved him very much!! He sat with them, played with them, and taught them. I remember the day I found out I was having a daughter. So far, there had only been 3 grandsons. That little girl had him wrapped around her little finger. One of my favorite “Roger-ism’s”, was his definition of what being ready meant! You were supposed to be standing on the curb with one foot out, ready to jump in the car I miss him terribly. But I’m also very thankful of the promise god made, that we will see our loved ones in paradise! That hope, the Holy Spirit, and the rest of our physical and spiritual family’s
love and support, is what is helping us deal with the sudden passing away of our dear friend, father, brother, husband, and Papa.
Dear Cofer family,
I’m so sorry that we just heard. When I think of a Dallas congregation, the first faces that pop into my head are Roger and Beverly. They are the greeters and they are there to say farewell. Smiles and genuine warmth. I loved watching the father, son and grandsons interactions. He was very involved in each persons life. We could all see his deep attachment to each one of you. He was so proud of each of you. Industrious with rbc. We look forward to welcoming him back and seeing those hugs all over again.
Love
Hollis Family
