Obituary

Henry Franklin Tripp Frank was born February 8, 1950 in Odessa, Texas and passed away on October 23, 2016. After graduating from Odessa High School, Frank obtained his undergraduate degree from TCU and then earned his Juris Doctorate at SMU. He worked in the legal department for Fina Oil & Chemical Company for over 20 years where he made numerous friends before he started his own practice. Frank is survived by his two sons, Hunter and Zachary, sister Sandra Jacobs, sister Rita Morgan and husband George Morgan, and sister Linda Kulasik. He is also survived by his nephew Jeffrey Jacobs and wife Rebecca Jacobs, niece Debra English and husband Jon English, and niece Lee Ann Alspaw and husband Joel Alspaw. He is preceded in death by his parents Thalia and Lea Tripp. Frank’s wit and sense of humor made him easy to love. His intelligence and perspective made him a natural source of counsel. He taught his values of honesty, integrity and compassion to Hunter and Zach. We are deeply saddened that he left us, however we are thankful that he has found ultimate peace. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for contributions to be made to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network’s (www.bcan.org) efforts towards fighting bladder cancer or to The Caring Fund at Presbyterian Village North. Arrangements are under the direction of: ARIA Cremation Service & Funeral Home 10116 E. NW Highway Dallas, Texas 75238 214.340.8008

Frank was a good friend in our high school days. He was the sharpest dresser, almost the smartest, guy I knew with the shiniest Bass Weejuns in OHS! God be with you Frank.

How can I adequately express how special Frank has always been. I worked with him for many years at Fina and continued our friendship through many years later. He had a rare gift to uplift everyone and make you laugh with his humor. He saw life in such a unique way and took you with him with his observations in such a way with wit and insight! I miss him so much and am so blessed to have shared a part of my life knowing him. To his family – know that he was very much loved by so many people. He is a real treasure.

Frank and I worked together at Fina Oil & Chemical. He was consistently happy and optimistic, and, as others have said, had a hilarious wit! He always made me laugh. I could also count on Frank to help me with a project and he taught me a lot about oil and gas law. Be thou at peace, my friend.

For two years Frank and I were doubles partners on the OHS tennis team. During that time we lost a lot of matches, often with an equanimity and sense of humor that our coaches found unseemly. Frank had unconventional tennis form, but that didn’t keep him from beating me in almost every singles match that we played.

One of the things that most impressed me about Frank was his generosity. He genuinely liked a wide range of people; he was able to see and understand individual qualities in just about everyone. I am so sorry for your loss, but try to remember that Frank probably got more enjoyment out of his 66 years than most people get out of a much longer life. May you treasure your best memories of him as he treasured so many people.

Frank was a law school classmate and neighbor of mine in
student housing at SMUlaw school. He was a great friend, whose kindness, generosity and wit endeared him to many of us who had the good fortune to know him. His sense of humor made the serious world of law school more bearable. I am so saddened to learn of his passing but the memory of him is a blessing.

Frank was my friend and my support when I was dealing with colon cancer. Afterwards I moved to Ohio. I had spoken to him during his battle with cancer and madde plans to come visit but they fell through. I didn’t know he passed and I want to send my condolences and to say Thank you to Frank for being such a positive influence and friend to someone who was lost. And thank you for showing me what a friend really was suppose to be.

Frank was the best! My mom was good friends with his mom. He was a little older than my sister and myself. He was affectionately known as “Cousin Frank” to our family. He talked the Cops out of taking a poor misguided college student (me) to jail late one Saturday night. You are missed my friend.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
