Peterson, Elise Ragnhild

February 2, 1927 - October 28, 2016

With gusto, Elise Ragnhild Peterson (nee Halvorson) lived her life until the peaceful benediction of her death on October 28, 2016. Born on February 2, 1927 in Watertown, South Dakota, Elise graduated from Augustana College (Sioux Falls) in 1949. Two years later, she married Roger William Peterson and they dedicated themselves to family, church, education and the arts. Elise was an accomplished musician who sang in the Dallas Civic Chorus, directed children’s choirs and taught piano to hundreds of children in Richardson, Texas. She was a docent at the Dallas Museum of Art and a member of the Dallas Needlework and Textile Guild. Elise’s avocation in ecclesiastical art led her to undertake the design of 37 alter and pew cushions for St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (Richardson), which were pointed by church members she taught. Her own exquisite needlework creations that adorn the walls of her home have been displayed in numerous exhibitions. Elise loved to entertain and delighted in sharing the traditions of her Norwegian heritage with others.
Mother’s curiosity, passions, adventuresome spirit and infectious optimism will continue to inspire family and friends, alike. We invite you to join us to celebrate her remarkable life on Saturday, November 12th at 11:00 AM at King of Glory Lutheran Church (6411 LBJ Frwy, Dallas 75240). Memorials can be made to “King of Glory” to benefit the music ministry program. Her musical laugh rings in our ears and our hearts are filled with gratitude for her love and the example of how she lived. Kristine, Jeff, Mark and Claudia, Erik and Brenda and our families.
