Deena Huff Gray, 73, died Dec. 3 after suffering a massive stroke. She was born Nov. 7, 1943 in Brady, TX and grew up in San Angelo, TX. On Dec. 25, 1971, she married Morris “Butch” Gray after going on her first date with him on her birthday the previous month. In their early years, they lived in several locales including Germany, Colorado Springs, CO, Bryan, TX and Iowa City, IA before settling down in Garland, TX. Deena touched hundreds of lives as an elementary school teacher with her last 29 years as a teacher in Garland ISD. She is survived by her husband, Butch of Garland; her daughters, Nicole Gray of Wylie, TX and Meredith Barnett and her husband, Christopher Barnett of Lucas, TX; three grandchildren, Jackson, Lorelei and Matthew Barnett of Lucas; her sister, Kathryn Straach and her husband Randy of Houston, TX; her brother’s widow, Karen Huff of Seguin, TX, and several nieces and nephews.
At Deena’s long-standing request, no funeral services will be held.
