Obituary
Frank Patrick Campione, 91, of Plano, Texas died December 21, 2016. “Poppa” Campione, son of Pasquale and Marie Campione, preceded in death by his loving wife Joan Marie Campione, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 21, 2016 at his home in Plano, Texas. Also preceded in death by his brothers Joe and Fred; sisters, Angie and Jenny. He is survived by his son Michael, daughter Michele, granddaughter Melissa and great-grand daughter Charlotte all living in the North Texas area. He is also survived by his sister Rose Wright living in Schenectady, NY. At eighteen, along with his two brothers Fred as a radioman in the Navy, Joe in the USMC, Frank enlisted as an aviation cadet and served his country honorably as an Army MP during WWII. After returning from service, he move to NYC where he enrolled in the newly opened Cartoonists and Illustrators School (later named School of Visual Arts). Shortly after graduation, Frank began work as a illustrator for an advertising agency producing graphic designs for General Electric. Greenwich Village is where he would meet the love of his life, Joan or “Josie” as her friends and family would call her and inseparable for the next 67 years until her passing in 2008. Later he would move his family to California where he continued to prosper in the commercial field receiving many deserved awards for his creativity and talent. Often at the end of a day “Poppa” would immerse himself in his own work creating beautiful Pen & Ink illustrations and portraits. After retiring to Plano, TX he continued to create many works until his passing. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, January 13, 2017 at ARIA Memorial Chapel with interment and military honors to follow at 1:15 P.M. at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders.
