Obituary
Mary Jane Frances O’Brien, age 91, passed away on January 24, 2017. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 23, 1925 to Apollina Walsh. Mary Jane grew up in Newark, New Jersey and would go on to work for The Newark Evening News as a single mother of two children. She later moved to Dallas, Texas and spent 18 years working for UTSW. Mary Jane was a charitable and loving provider for her family and those in need. She was an incredibly loving mother, a devoted friend to many, and was happy to make time for friends, coworkers, and, of course, her family.
Mary Jane O’Brien is preceded in death by her mother, Apollina Walsh, and brother, James G. Walsh. Her survivors include her children; Ken O’Brien and Sharon Currans, grandchildren; James Kapantais and Amanda Williams O’Neill, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends.
A funeral mass will be held for Mary Jane at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 10, 2017 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas 75244. A reception will take place at the Guidone Residence 4708 Allencrest Lane, Dallas, Texas 75244 beginning at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes that you will consider making a donation to the St. Jude Foundation.
Mary Jane Frances O’Brien, loving mother, grandmother and friend, will be missed by many but will forever be in our hearts.
