Obituary
Lois S. Arnold, 97, died February 26, 2017 in a Dallas nursing home. She was born January 5, 1920, in Davenport, NE. It was there that she grew up and graduated from high school as valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO. While working in Nelson, NE, Lois met Earl Arnold, whom she married on August 7, 1938, in Davenport, NE. In 1950 they moved to Denton, TX, where Earl joined the faculty of what is now University of North Texas. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UNT. Mrs. Arnold taught for 26 years in Denton elementary schools, retiring in 1980. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Texas Retired Teachers, and AARP. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton. For 29 years she visited the homebound weekly for the church. In 2009 she moved to C.C Young in Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. and Grace Sien; her husband, Earl Arnold; and son-in-law Glenn Arden. She is survived by daughter Marilyn Gary and husband Joe (Buddy) of Highlands Ranch, CO; daughter Kathryn Arden of Dallas, TX; 5 grandchildren: Trent Clifton and wife Trish, Karen Clifton, Todd Clifton, April Hess and husband Hans, and Eric Arden; 6 great-grandchildren: Alec and Cole Clifton, Kenna and Malia Jones, Elisabeth and Hans Hess; 4 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-great-grandchilden. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Denton or to the C.C. Young Benevolent fund. There will be a service celebrating her life at The Point on the campus of C.C. Young on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10:30am.
